Counterintuitive, A Brief Rhapsody for Trombone Choir
One of my more recent trombone choir works, this piece is extremely challenging rhythmically and very demanding on the range of the ensemble (a contrabass trombone wouldn't be a bad idea if you have one!). A dark and somewhat menacing timbre pervades most of the piece and is presented within a strong, victorious fanfare-like style. Hocket triple tonguing rhythms form the backbone of the piece, and contemporary dynamic effects help charge the energy throughout. A true test of skill for any trombone choir!
