This is a piece I wrote for an ensemble called "Skin n' Bones" at the University of Alabama. This ensemble is a combination of the UA Trombone Choir and the UA Percussion Studio. This piece calls for 10 trombones, timpani, bass drum, cymbals, temple blocks, chimes, glockenspiel, xylophone, 4 marimba parts, and piano. The piece was one of the very first compositions I ever wrote, so the piece is lighter in terms of demand on the ensemble. The range is quite contained for the trombones, and the percussion parts are very manageable. With this piece and others I have written for this ensemble, I take a film score style of approach to the piece in terms of melody and structure, so the piece is also very accessible with most audiences. A live recording of this piece can be found under "Recordings and Samples". Duration: 7 min.
