Intransigence is my first composition for tuba/euphonium ensemble. I have always been fascinated by the sounds and abilities of the tuba/euph. ensemble and wanted to challenge myself to write something that didn't involve the trombone. This work gradually builds speed and energy while focusing on harmonies that move primarily by half-step. This is written for 8-part ensemble: 4 euphoniums, 4 tubas. Performance time is just shy of 6 minutes.
